Artist Statement: “With combining hieroglyphics, knowledge, and terracotta to tell stories of the medical concepts. The artwork captures not only the passion for Egyptian art, but the elaboration of strenuous knowledge needed for medical school. From each division of the pot, a section offers a glimpse into the complex responsibilities and structure of each body system. Systematically, this pot is made to be an illusion of it looking like Egyptian art from far away, but as you get closer, you see the systems and the importance of each part of the body. This is a parallel representation of the body just looking like a body until it is put underneath a microscope, and the true importance of each system is seen and understood.”
